Cradle Cap
|
|
Cradle Cap or seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp is a temporary skin condition of the scalp area that usually occurs in the first two months from birth and rarely beyond three years. It is not yet known the reason why cradle cap happens although some doctors think this overactive sebaceous or oil gland is passed to baby from an imbalance in the expectant mother.
Cradle cap begins on the scalp as a red, scaly rash. The scales and hair follicles mount up and become trapped in a thick, yellow layer, or plaques that can look like scabs stuck to the skin which can then spread to other parts of the body. Thankfully it is not itchy (unlike eczema), painful or bothersome for the child.
In most cases the easiest and most effective way to treat this condition is by using Pure Baby Hair & Scalp Care along with either Pure Baby Conditioning Shampoo or Pure Baby Two-In-One.
During bath time use a lavish amount of Pure Baby Hair & Scalp Care and massage into the scalp for a few minutes, this soothing massage relaxes your baby while the oil penetrates the tougher areas of cradle cap. Leave on for five minutes to allow the oil to absorb into the scalp area the comb through to remove bigger scales, and then rinse off with warm water. Then apply Pure Baby Conditioning Shampoo or Pure Baby Two-In-One to penetrate the smaller, tougher scales.
The process of getting rid of cradle cap is not a long one and generally speaking, when cradle cap is gone, it is gone for good. |
